Editors & Typos

Life is too short to be taken too seriously, or as a friend of mine used to say, "If you can't take a joke, you've come to the wrong place." In that vein, I offer you opportunities to exercise your smile muscles.

EDITORS AND TYPOS

The following selections illustrate why a spell checker program does not replace a good editor, and why editorial lapses can be even funnier than typos. Please feel free to offer any of your own.

From the Chicago Tribune:

Miss Carlisle, a budding author, has been circulating her navel among various Hollywood producers.

He desperately clung to the sill by his fingerprints.

Picking up his hammer and two broads, he returned to the cabin to finish the job.

Millions of desirable women are unattacked and hungry for love.

Beethoven, who had ten children, practiced on a spinster in the attic.

Here are a few the editors missed:

From an obituary in the Boston Globe: Underneath those ragged trousers beat a heart of gold.

The Fire Department will blow the siren fifteen minutes before the start of every fire.

	SGelert发表: Hehe yeah, I love these things. Actually though, the fingerprints one is really rather evocative. I mean, the fingertips thing is sooo last year isn't it?
